Join our team! McGlinchey Stafford is a full service business law firm with a nationwide presence in commercial and financial services litigation. Our multidisciplinary team seeks a commercial litigator with 5 to 12 years of experience to join our office in New York City. An ideal candidate for the position has 5 to 12 years of complex litigation experience, including experience in commercial litigation and/or financial services litigation. Flexible schedules available. While we encourage our attorneys to have a regular presence in the office to promote collegiality and our firm culture, our remote work policy provides for remote work options. A top candidate has litigation experience in the following areas: lender liability litigation, consumer protection statutes, disclosure pursuant to the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), as well as federal and state requirements for loan servicing. In this role, you will assist our team in representing clients in commercial litigation, specifically working with financial institution clients and representing them in state, federal, and appellate actions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney to hone his or her litigation skills in a culture that values collaboration and hard work. Candidates must be licensed in New York, and an additional license to practice in Connecticut and/or New Jersey is preferred. License to practice in New York and any other jurisdictions must be active and in good standing.

Requirements of the position:

  • 5 to 12 years of prior experience in commercial litigation and/or financial services litigation.
  • A current license to practice law in the state of New York, must be active and in good standing. An additional license in Connecticut and/or New Jersey is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience drafting complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings.
  • Experience appearing in Court for oral argument, preliminary conferences and settlement conferences.
  • Experience participating in the development of a strategy for written and deposition discovery.
  • Experience taking a lead role in litigation, handling cases from start to finish, and mentoring other attorneys.
  • Ability to distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product and to work meticulously to ensure the quality of work product.
  • Federal court experience is a plus.

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • A team mindset while assisting with preparation for trials and evidentiary hearings.
  • Experience in the role of first chair at trial strongly preferred.
  • Confidence in serving as a representative of clients and our firm while meeting and conferring with opposing counsel.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills as well as clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • A demonstrated dedication to client service.
