Thamanna Hussain

Thamanna Hussain is a fifth-year litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton. She earned her JD from New York Law School, cum laude and her Bachelors in Political Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, magna cum laude. As a law student, Thamanna served as Law Review Senior Staff Editor, President of the Muslim Law Students Association, and Vice President of the Legal Association for Women. She is the recipient of the Alexander D. Forger Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession and the Dean’s Award for Student Leadership. Thamanna was also a Student Advocate for the Education Law Clinic and represented low-income students in education and advocacy matters, including suspension hearings before NYC Department of Education hearing officers. She maintains an active pro bono practice and advocates for individuals on death row by developing their innocence and mitigation evidence.
